About our Classes

Junior Spots:

Our Junior Spots Classes are specifically geared towards children in Senior Infants to 2nd Class of Primary School.

A lively class filled with improvisation, role play, theatre games, creative thinking and storytelling inspiring students' to make up characters, tell stories and explore their world through acting and performance activities. Students' are encouraged to work as a team and be expressive in voice, face and body language. Life is mirrored through play giving children the tools to deal with real life social and school situations. Language and vocabulary are developed and shy or withdrawn children are encouraged to blossom.

Our Juniors Spots work towards their Irish Board of Speech and Drama Preliminary Grades and Grades One and Two OR more suitable grades.

Intermediate Spots:

Our Intermediate Spots Classes are specifically geared towards children in 3rd to 6th Class of Primary School.

Our Intermediate Spots Classes give pre-teens a place where they can explore their changing worldand develop their acting skills as they challenge, transform, improve and grow in confidence and ability. In our Intermediate Spots Classes, we aim to increase each students' confidence when acting, as well as improving their self-confidence.  We focus on vocal clarity and fluency of speech essential in the modern world and progression as an actor, all the while improving students' Public Speaking and Communications Skills.

Each week we focus on a different aspect of speech and drama or theatre; during this time students' have the opportunity to express their individual ideas and to work with others. They explore different characters and scenarios, firing their imagination and building their confidence and vocal ability, always building and improving their acting skills.

Our intermediate students continue to work towards their Irish Board of Speech and Drama Grades, with the option of also completing acting grades and partaking in Féiseanna and Festivals.

Senior Spots:

Our Senior Spots Classes are specifically geared towards students in 1st to 6th Year of Secondary School.

Senior Spots Classes are filled with improvisation, role-play, theatre games, creative thinking, public speaking/communication and intense vocal work to inspire and encourage growth in our students'. Every week our senior students' work using drama and vocal exercises to refine their skills and abilities. Being part of a happy and productive class enables our senior students' to develop self-expression, imagination, self-confidence and vocabulary as well as give voice to a complex range of emotions.

As we devote so much time to improving Senior Spots' public speaking skills, these classes provide an excellent framework for Students' preparing for their 'Junior Certificate Oral Communication Assessment'.

Our senior students' also work towards their Senior Irish Board of Speech and Drama Grades and Proficiency Grade. Many of our Senior students' choose to undertake their Irish Board of Speech and Drama Acting or Teaching Diplomas, preparation for these may be facilitated within our senior Spots Classes or privately. There is also the opportunity to perform in Féiseanna and Festivals.
